How do I make a reservation?

For booking a cabin cruise or group travel, please refer to the application form on the Sailing offers/products/voyages page.

When is my reservation final?

Cabin cruises
The booking is final as soon as you register with the booking form, you will receive a confirmation by e-mail.
Group travel
When you are interested in booking De Vriendschap, you will first receive a quote. When you agree with our offer, we will send you an official agreement through e-mail. This agreement has to be signed by you and then sent back (per mail, fax or e-mail). After we receive the signed contract, your booking is final.

What is included in the rental price?

Rental prices include 9% VAT, port fees, tourist tax and fuel expenses for a maximum of 1 hour motoring per day.

What are the payment conditions?

Our payment conditions are dependent on the moment of your booking. See our general terms and conditions.   
General conditions
 
When booking a cabin cruise, payment conditions are as follows:
Payment of the travel sum is divided in two parts when your reservation is made at least 12 weeks prior to the travelling date.  
First payment term 50% (within 14 days after booking) with a travel sum up to €500,00. 20% (within 14 days after booking) with a travel sum from €500,00 or more, with a minimum payment of €249,00.  
The second payment term amounts the remaining sum, which should be paid at least 6 weeks prior to the travelling date.  

When booking a group travel for next year, payment conditions are as follows:
1. term 10% within 14 days after booking
2. term 40% by January 1st of the next year
3. term 50% at least 6 weeks prior to the travelling date.

Booking a group travel for the ongoing year 
50% within 14 days after booking
50% at least 6 weeks prior to the travelling date.

Should I take out a cancellation insurance?

We strongly advise you to take out a good travel or cancellation insurance when you make your reservations.

I do not have the possibility to make an online reservation. Could this be done any other way?

It is always possible to make your reservations per telephone or mail. You will then receive a confirmation.

Can I order a gift voucher?

Yes! You can order a gift voucher on board or per mail, so you can give someone else a sailing trip as a present. The receiver of the voucher can get in touch with us to arrange with which cruise he or she can hop along.

When do I receive more information about the booked sailing trip?

After you have made your reservations, you will receive a confirmation together with the first travel information. Two weeks prior to your travelling date, you will receive the further necessary information about your voyage. Such as phone numbers, directions, luggage information, ship’s berth and parking information.                     

I have questions about the cabin cruises

Does the cabin cruise take place even when it is not fully booked?

Yes, we give a sailing guarantee. Your cabin cruise will take place.

Only in very rare situations, for example when there are only two participants, we will get in touch with you 4 weeks prior to the travel date to find a solution.

What does the cabin arrangement look like for a cabin cruise?

We have single and double cabins on board.
Single cabins can be booked as a 1 person private cabin.
Double cabins can be booked as a 2 person private cabin.
When there are no special requirements or inquiries, we can arrange berths in a shared cabin.

I am vegetarian. Which possibilities do you offer considering the catering arrangement?

Whilst making your reservation, you can specify your preferences. Our cook always takes your wishes into account.

I have a gluten allergy. Which possibilities do you offer considering the catering arrangement?

Whilst making your reservation, you can specify your preferences. Our cook always takes your wishes into account.

What kind of people can I expect to sail along on your cabin cruises?

Our sailors almost always form a varied ensemble of international people. Most of our guests come from The Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland.

Some people travel solo, others in small groups. Every voyage brings a different combination of characters and its own unique ambiance.

When do I receive information about my reservation?

After you have made your booking, you will receive a confirmation together with the first travel information.

Two weeks prior to your travelling date, you will receive the further necessary information about your voyage. Such as, phone numbers, directions, luggage information, ship’s berth and parking information.

At what time can I arrive?

You may arrive at the following hours:
At Group travels

Weekendreis: Friday from 20.00 hours
Mid-week: Monday from 10.00 hours
Week: Saturday from 12.00 hours
  Monday from 12.00hours

For cabin cruises one can come on board from 21.00 hours Sunday evening, the latest arrival time is Monday at 10 am.

Can I embark the night before departure?

For the group travels you can book a pre-overnight stay. You can request an overnight stay while booking your voyage, but this can also be requested at a later moment. For a group travel you will pay an extra €480,00 for your pre-overnight stay.

For a cabine cruise, you can embark on Sunday evening a from 21.00 hour.

Is there a possibility to arrive at an earlier moment than the indicated time of arrival?

The ship is reserved for your arrival at the indicated time. As from that moment, the ship is ready for you. Before you embark, the ship gets a thorough cleaning. In between our voyages, we have a limited time for these activities. Those small hours before your arrival are very much needed to get the ship ready for your stay!

Do I need to have sailing experience to join?

We, your crew, are always on board, so sailing experience is not required! Children below the age of 18 can only sail along under the supervision of an adult.                     

Groceries

Is there storage space for our groceries?

As well in the galley as the salon we have created adequate storage space in cabinets, drawers and of course the fridge and freezer.

Do we have the possibility to do groceries during our trip?

Every afternoon we moor in a harbour where you have the possibility to do your groceries at the bakery, butchers, greengrocer or supermarket. Besides there is usually plenty of time in the morning to do your shopping.

Is the water supply on board potable?

Almost every day we refill our water supply and yes, the water on board is fresh, potable drinking water. 

What’s up with catering?

At your request we can look after the catering. An experienced cook and assistant will sail along. Specify your requests while making your reservations and get in touch to discuss the possibilities.

When ordering catering service, our ship’s cook will sail along to provide you with your daily treats. For this reason we will reserve one cabin for the cook.

The maximum number of people for catering is 10.

Can I arrange the catering myself?

Our galley is very well equipped and has a lot of facilities available for your use, might you want to provide your own meals. Check the galley specifications right here. There is sufficient pottery, (frying) pans for cooking, plates and cutlery available.

Is there a coffee machine?

There is an industrial coffee maker with sufficient coffee filters on board.

Is there a stove and an oven?

We have a large industrial 5 burner gas stove with hot air oven on board.

Is there a barbeque on board?

Yes. We have an electrical barbeque on board. So you do not need to bring your coals!

Where do I get the groceries?

When you provide for your own meals, you can do your groceries in Enkhuizen at the bakery, butcher, greengrocer or local supermarkets or you can bring your groceries from home.
We moor in a harbor every afternoon, in every harbor there is the possibility to buy food, from the butcher, the baker, the greengrocer or the supermarket. There is also often enough time in the morning for shopping.

What’s up with cleaning the ship?

The ship is thoroughly cleaned before you embark. Nevertheless we do expect you to keep it clean during your stay on board. All the needed cleaning agents are freely available on board.

Is there a washing machine / dryer on board?

Yes, we have a washing machine and dryer on board. In consultation with the crew, you may use these.

Your luggage                     

What should I take with me?

The weather at sea can be rather unsteady and usually it is a bit colder than ashore. Make sure you always bring something warm to wear.
De Vriendschap is equipped with sailing suits for our guests. These are wind and watertight.

As your traveling bag we would advise a soft bag. Usually there is little to no room for a suitcase.

Furthermore it is convenient to bring along the following things:
Beanie / cap
Sunglasses
Sun cream and swimming gear
Sneakers and or sturdy shoes
Plastic sandals or aqua shoes when visiting the Wadden Sea
Books and/or games
Sometimes earplugs can be useful

Can I bring along my pet?

No, pets are not allowed on board.                     

What can I expect from a sailing trip? How does it work?

How many hours a day will we be sailing?

Usually the ship leaves the harbour around 10:00 in the morning. We always make sure there is sufficient time for breakfast and groceries. Maybe you want another stroll around town or you would like to stay on the island a bit longer? Address your wishes with the skipper. Departure times are always discussed with the crew. When sailing the Wadden Sea we are dependent on the tides and therefore have to be flexible when it comes to times of departure.

What routes will we be sailing?

The routes we chose to sail are mainly dependent on the wind and weather forecast.
In any case, we will discuss your wishes before departure.
We might chose to sail the Ijsselmeer or set course for the Wadden Sea. A very nice alternative could be a journey across the Frisian lakes.
But sometimes we have to adjust our program according to the weather.
Your crew always put safety and comfort first for everybody on board.

When do we decide not to sail out?

With a predicted wind force 7 or more, we usually do not depart from the harbour. This also depends on the route ahead of us.          

What’s up with safety on board?

The skippers of De Vriendschap will always put the safety of their guests first and will adjust their routes to the weather conditions.
All components and the ship itself are under a very strict annual surveillance. De Vriendschap’s systems and processes are up to par. Fore more information see under tab Ship.

Are life jackets available on board?

There is a certified automatic life jacket for every guest (also for children). On board are lifebuoys and life rafts and an extra boat. The crew members have emergency response certificates. All life-saving equipment is inspected regularly and above all, we always opt for safety, in both routes and maneuvers. We have extra high railings.

I am susceptible to seasickness. Can I join?

Our ship is a very stable sailing vessel. Seasickness happens only very seldom. If you are susceptible to seasickness, we advise you to eat and sleep well during your stay and to try to stay above deck while we are sailing.
Do not eat too much fat and/or sweet food and watch your alcohol intake. Don’t drink coffee but preferably Coca Cola or any other carbonated drink. We also recommend fresh air and keep your eyes on the horizon to correct your sense of stability. Of course you may always bring along seasickness pills.

Outward bound / homeward bound                     

How do I reach Enkhuizen?

Two weeks prior to your travelling date we will send you a clear itinerary with De Vriendschap’s berth.

Where can I park my car in Enkhuizen?

Near to the ship’s berth, at Enkhuizen’s train station, there is a free parking lot. Two weeks prior to your travelling date, we will send you a clear itinerary.

Can I reach Enkhuizen with public transport?

Enkhuizen is very well accessible by train. De Vriendschap’s berth is only a 10 minute walk from the train station.

Where is the ship located?

Our ship is located at the Gependam in Enkhuizen, two weeks before departure we will send you a map with route.
